When was the last time you truly checked your Shop Health? Your TikTok Shop account might look fine on the surface, but behind the scenes, TikTok violation points for sellers could be quietly piling up.

Violation points are actively issued to sellers for policy breaches, whether you are aware of it or not. Believe us, even the most careful sellers are not immune to this.

According to the TikTok Shop Safety Report (July-December 2024), the platform deactivated over 450,000 sellers, primarily due to shop-level violations. The report also revealed that TikTok Shop removed 90,000 restricted products after listing and stripped e-commerce features from more than 700,000 creators.

These are undeniably huge numbers. And they probably make you ask:

Is my TikTok Shop account safe from sudden closure and banning?

Don’t worry. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the TikTok Violation Point System for sellers and highlight the types of violations that could lead to account termination to help you secure your success on TikTok.

How Do TikTok Violation Points Work for Sellers?

TikTok Shop Health Overview

If you want to sell on TikTok Shop Philippines, you must comply with the Seller Terms of Service and all related policies. These cover everything from product listings and content creation to customer service and fulfillment.

Now, each time you violate a policy, TikTok assigns Violation Points. The number of Violation Points issued to sellers will depend on the severity and impact of the infringement.

For example, a low 24-hour customer service response rate may only result in 1 violation point. But reproduced content, whether by the seller or a linked creator, can immediately lead to 48 points.

These points are cumulative. Once your account reaches 48 active points, TikTok may suspend or permanently close your shop.

What is the TikTok Shop Violation Milestone System?

TikTok Violation Warning

There are four important Violation Point thresholds on TikTok Shop you need to pay attention to: 12, 24, 36, and 48 points. These are the TikTok Shop Violation Milestones. And reaching any of them triggers enforcement actions that can affect your shop’s performance and earnings.

For instance, at 12 violation points, you may lose access to campaigns. At 24, livestream traffic may drop, and new product listings could be blocked. At 36, your shop may be temporarily deactivated.

So, how many violation points get banned on TikTok?

The answer is 48 TikTok violation points. As mentioned, at this violation milestone, the TikTok seller receives the most severe penalty, which is permanent shop removal.

The good news is that TikTok sends formal warnings when you’re 5 points away from the next milestone, giving you time to take action, such as sending an appeal or taking a pause.

Here’s the complete list of enforcement actions per Violation Milestone:

12 Violation Points

  • Sellers will be removed from campaigns, user growth programs, free shipping, and other platform benefits for 7 calendar days.
  • Sellers will be removed from the Affiliates Program for 7 calendar days.

24 Violation Points

  • Sellers cannot join new mega campaigns, user growth activities, free shipping subsidies, or other platform benefits for 14 calendar days.
  • Sellers cannot enroll in the TikTok Shop Affiliates Program for 14 calendar days.
  • Creating or updating product listings will be disabled for 14 calendar days. Livestream traffic will be reduced for 14 calendar days.
  • Products will not be shown in Shopping Center recommendations for 14 calendar days.

36 Violation Points

  • The shop will be deactivated for 28 calendar days.
  • The seller will not be able to enroll in new mega campaigns, user growth activities, free shipping subsidies, and other platform benefits for 60 calendar days.

48 violation points

  • Permanent suspension of TikTok Shop.
  • The platform may take legal action against the seller and/or report the seller to the relevant regulatory authorities

Additional TikTok Shop Enforcement Measures You Should Know

Apart from the enforcement actions above, TikTok Shop may also take additional actions for violations of its policies, guidelines, or seller terms of service. These actions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Sending formal warning messages
  • Suspending listing privileges
  • Delisting products
  • Reducing traffic to the seller’s ads, livestreams, videos, or product listings
  • Removing the seller’s products from eligibility for Shopping Center recommendations
  • Limiting order and product listing volume on the seller’s shop
  • Withdrawing seller benefits, either temporarily or permanently
  • Suspending the seller’s participation in the Affiliates Program and other events, either temporarily or permanently
  • Suspending access to the platform, temporarily or permanently
  • Withholding balance or canceling transactions, temporarily or permanently, in serious cases
  • Canceling or withdrawing any promotions or subsidies granted to the seller
  • Deleting the seller’s account
  • Taking legal action against the seller
Extending the settlement period for the seller’s shop
  • Reporting the seller to the relevant regulatory authorities, with the right to share relevant account information
  • Removing the seller’s ability to review and approve customer refund requests; refund decisions will be handled by the platform
  • Deducting any payable amounts from the seller to compensate for losses or damages incurred by the platform, buyers, or third parties

How long do TikTok violation points last?

TikTok Violation points are automatically cleared after 90 calendar days from the date they were issued. It’s worth noting that this 90-day reset period was already reduced from the previous 180 days.

However, there’s an important exception. If a seller accumulates 48 violation points, the account will be permanently deactivated. In this case, the 90-day reset will not apply.

In short, the 90-day period offers a recovery window, but not a free pass for repeated or serious violations. However, if a seller successfully appeals a violation, the points are removed immediately, along with any related penalties.
